Alright so I know I learned this forever ago in elementary school but I always seem to forget the past things that I have learned. I usually get confused with the apostrophe rule. Especially with the word "it." I'm just not sure when to use an apostrophe. Then I looked up the rule on the internet and found this great site that really helped me understand it a lot better.

Rule:
Its is the possessive pronoun; it modifies a noun.

It's is a contraction of it is or it has.
