“We are the champions”
We are the champions, we are the champions no time for losers WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS.!! The song boomed through the gym. I felt the tears starting to swell up in my eyes. As I looked around I saw the families everyone grinning from ear to ear. We did it, we won the 4A state championship. We were all busting at the seams with joy all the sweat, all the hard work had finally paid off. It was a thrilling game, excitement permeated the air. I couldn't believe we did it, we reached our goal, the goal every team strives for. We played the Orem tigers a skilled team but we proved that we were better. Every squeak from the shoes, every swish of the net every cheer from the crowd made it one of the best days of my life. We were overwhelmed, as we wrapped out arms around each other jumping to the same rhythm, cheering loudly T-T-T T birds! T-T-T T birds! I took a glance at each of my teammates faces, some filled with joy, some filled with relief but each one filled with the greatest amount of happiness that I have ever seen or even experienced. I never wanted this moment to end, a moment of complete happiness. Whenever I hear the snapping sound of scizzors it will always remind me of that day when each of us took our part of that much deserved net. The net that helped us win the game. Every time I hear this song all of my memories from that game come flooding back to my mind. And all of the amazing things that happened that day return to my thoughts, bringing me back to that day of complete happiness.
"These are my people"
Throughout my life I have moved many times, nine times to be exact all in Utah. I would have to say that there is no place that hits home more then good old Nephi Utah. I only loved here for a couple of years but I would move back in a heart beat. This song explains exactly what my home town was like. A little hick town where everyone knows everyone, I wouldn’t want it any other way. My dad grew up there so I guess you could say Nephi is our families bread and butter. Each day was filled with adventure, there were friends everywhere you went. The words in the song say it best, these are my people, this is where I come from, we’re givin this life everything we got and then some these are my people! I have learned some of my greatest life lessons in this town. I learned how to work, I learned how to love and I learned how to live. I would have to say that my favorite part of the song is where it says “Well We take it all week on the chin with a grin 'til we make it to a Friday night, and it's church league softball holler about a bad call preacher breaking up the fight.” This part of the song totally describes my life, sports were my life in Nephi and the entire community including the preachers were involved. I think Nephi brought out the best in everyone and to this day it continues to do so.

I have always loved "We are the Champions"! That is such a great song to have memories tied to since it will be one that you will hear over and over again. I am assuming that you were playing basket ball. Truly is wonderful that you have such a great song to remember and for excellent reasons. This song has shaped your life.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you on your comments on the song These Are My People. You just discribed my life too. I am from Heber City, UT and seriously everybody know everybody. Each day was exciting like you said and very random. Thats just how you have to make fun in a small town though, is by doing random things. Softball games are the big thing also and if you win or lose everyone knows.
