Finding subjects and verbs, sometimes this can be difficult and there is a rule that I found that states;

If a verb follows to, it is called an infinitive phrase and is not the main verb. You will find the main verb either before or after the infinitive phrase.
Examples: I like to walk.
The efforts to get her elected succeeded.
This is just one of the rules there are many more at this great site;

Nike Shocks

In 2001, Nike unveiled a completely new and revolutionary style of athletic shoe cushioning. The Nike Shox system is based on the simple idea that a shoe should not only provide cushioning, but return the energy of the impact to the wearer just like a spring would. The Shox system took sixteen years to develop, but the highly resilient foam in the Nike Shox columns reduce the risk of impact-related injuries. The state- of-the-art Shox won’t have you bouncing off of walls, but it will provide a barely noticeable, but pleasantly springy ride for even the most demanding athlete.

The Oscars

"Now, I'm gonna open my fly and you're gonna swallow what I give ya to swallow. And after you swallow mine you're gonna swallow Rooster's cause ya done broke his nose and I think he oughta have something to show for it."

For this year I would give the Oscar to Michael Clarke Duncan who played a major role in the hit film Shawshank redemption. This film showed the trials and herd times of prison. Michael played a man who was sent to prison for being accused of rape which was not the case. He played a tender man who would not heart a fly and had a special healing power where he could heal illnesses and injuries.
This movie was filled with action and sadness, it was very well written and very intense, through this great actor you really got to see the emotional side of the prison life. Many people believe that guys in prison are these tough guys but really there are so many emotions for the men that reside there.
This movie told the story about a prison life and the hardness of it, it is a prison where they are on the waiting list for the electrical chair. I would not recommend it for younger children but for anyone that wants a fantastic movie and a good tear jerker, this is a great film and has quickly became one of my favorites.

Pronouns can get a little hard well for me anyway and I found an awesome helped me understand them;
Subject pronouns are used when the pronoun is the subject of the sentence. You can remember subject pronouns easily by filling in the blank subject space for a simple sentence.

Example:
______ did the job.I, you, he, she, it, we, and they all fit into the blank and are, therefore, subject pronouns.

Grammar Post #5

Finding subjects and verbs in a sentance can be tough sometimes, this rule really helped me understand it a little bit better;
Being able to find the right subject and verb will help you correct errors of agreement.
Example:
The list of items is/are on the desk.
Being able to identify the subject and verb correctly will also help you with commas and semicolons as you will see later.
Definition. A Verb is a word that shows action (runs, hits, slides) or state of being (is, are, was, were, am, and so on).
Examples:
He ran around the block. You are my friend.
Rule 1.
If a verb follows to, it is called an infinitive phrase and is not the main verb. You will find the main verb either before or after the infinitive phrase.

Examples:
I like to walk.
The efforts to get her elected succeeded.
Definition. A Subject is the noun or pronoun that performs the verb.
Example:
The woman hurried.
Woman is the subject.

Ethnographic post: The Navajo people

I still am not sure what point to take on this project, it is a very diverse culture and a pretty large topic so any suggestions would really help. Here are some of the questions;
1. What are some cultural things they are involved in?
2. How much of their own history do they know?
3. Is it hard keeping the language alive?
4.What traditions are the most different from most American customs?
5. Is it hard to keep old customs going?
6. What are the majority of the cultures beliefs?
7. On the reservations do the people still believe in old customs?
8. How are they keeping the language and culture alive?
9. What are the main differences from today's culture compared to in the past
10. What are some of the stories the elderly people tell the younger children?

I don't really know where I'm going with this yet so if anyone has feed back that would be great!

Grammer post #5

I have wondered for a while when I should use semicolons in place of a period when separating two sentences and I found a rule that really helped

Use a semicolon in place of a period to separate two sentences where the conjunction has been left out.
Examples:
Call me tomorrow; I will give you my answer then.
I have paid my dues; therefore, I expect all the privileges listed in the contract.

The web page that has a lot of great things on it is, http://http://www.grammarbook.com/punctuation/semicolons.asp
